Arriving Day

So the easiest way to tell everyone about our trip is day by day...so I'll begin...

Thursday – Arriving Day

We woke up at about 6:00 Thursday morning. We’d both showered the night before so that way we could try to sleep a bit later. Larry picked us up at 7:00 and we got to the airport right at 7:30. The Mexicana (the airline we flew on) ticket counter wasn’t open…so we all sat around and stared at one another until finally they started getting all 100-120 of us checked in. We got through security and decided to eat a good breakfast at Bennigan’s. When done, we sat at our gate. We boarded the plane about 10:30 and left DFW right at 10:50. We arrived in Cabo at about 12:30 mountain time. After we all made it through customs, we were swept onto two buses waiting to take us to our resort.
Los Cabos is the name of the area. Two cities about 30 minutes apart. San Jose Del Cabo (SJDC) is the old town and Cabo San Lucas (CSL) more of the touristy town. Our resort was right in between SJDC and CSL. Upon arrival to the resort (Melia Cabo Real), we were greeted with pina coladas and long tables to expedite the check in of so many of us. We received yellow wrist bands we had to keep on the whole trip in order to eat, etc. Ryan and I made our way to our room. Third Floor looking out of the first hole of a golf course…to the far left out our balcony you could see the ocean. Lots of palm trees, and tons of bougainvillea. It was growing there like hedges! Everywhere you looked. Bright pink and bright purple. Absolutely gorgeous. We immediately got everything unpacked, changed into warm weather clothes and went off walking. The temperatures there were from lows in the fifties to highs in the eighties. We moseyed around the pool and Ryan ate a snack from the pool snack bar. Me, I’d eaten lunch on the plane. Yes, they served either chicken or pasta on the plane! I had the tortellini. Not too bad, but Ryan was disgusted by it…anyways…back to Cabo. So we ate then walked down to the beach. The sand was like gravel. Extremely rough on the feet. But the water was beautiful. Alls shades of blue to a light turquoise. Absolutely beautiful. It’s amazing. You get into your own little rut…you look out your window and things are brown and gray and somewhat dreary. Makes you forget there are beautiful places like this just waiting for you to come visit them. Anywho, we went back up to the room and got cleaned up for the Brazilian Beach Party Dinner. This involved some very interesting looking foods, a guy throwing around fire, a lady in a green sparkly bikini and of course dancing. Lots and lots of dancing. In fact they did some kind of contest and one of Ryan’s coworkers won a free massage! A very fun and very exciting day all in all. We got back to the room and both fell right to sleep. We had heard the beds were extremely uncomfortable…which while they weren’t the most comfortable in the world, I was so tired, it didn’t matter if I laid down on a rock…I was exhausted! Plus...come on now...it's free!
