Birthdays

Ryan turns 31 here in a few days. We are headed to Billy Bob’s on Friday night to hear Bobby play and on Saturday plan on doing something with our families. He told me last night he wants a pair of boots for his birthday…so if you have any suggestions or comments on what kinds are good, etc…send them our way.
I turn 30 in July! We are meeting a few friends down in Luckenbach for the 4th of July and are going to start the celebration then. On the 11th, we are having people over from 11-7 that day…get it? 11-7 on 7-11? Burgers, chicken, sausage, snacks, and cake. I plan on buying a couple of kiddie pools. One for the kids to play in and the other filled with sodas, juice boxes, beers, etc. I plan on making water balloons that morning for a water balloon toss, maybe horseshoes, dominos, cards…just a day of come and go relaxing fun. I hope everyone can stop by that day. No need to bring anything but your body :o)

So that should catch everyone up on us for a while!!! I promise to be better and start posting things a couple times a week again. Just been busy!!!

This Weekend

Ryan and I have a pretty fun weekend ahead of us. Tonight is the anniversary of one of our friend’s five year cancer survival. They have rented out a room at the White Elephant, are having dinner from the Lonesome Dove catered in, and have invited our friends Walt Wilkins and the Mystiqueros, Brad Hines, and a few others to come play. We are really excited. Such a wonderful thing to celebrate and we feel honored they have asked us to join them. Tomorrow night, our friend Melissa turns 30 and we are headed to the Rahr Brewery in Fort Worth for her party. I have heard great things about Rahr. In fact, SAFY is trying to partner with them right now. They choose a charity a week and proceeds from the tours and sales they have that week go to the charity of their choice! I really hope it works out. Then Sunday we are headed out to the Ballpark for some afternoon baseball against Oakland.

Vacuum

About a week ago I was about to vacuum (desperately needed). I started up the vacuum and out came a horrible sound, then horrible smell, then nothing. Ugh. Ryan and I sat at the computer, researched and found an affordable, highly rated vacuum at Kohl’s. And, lucky enough, we had 30% off and free shipping. Awesome…don’t even have to leave the house. Bought it…expected arrival June 4th. So yesterday when we got home, it had already arrived! One problem though…it had already been opened, then someone had taped it back up and shipped it…and it rattled. Sides were extremely dented. Ryan was convinced it had fallen off the truck somewhere along the line. As soon as dinner was done, we loaded it in the Nissan and headed to the Kohl’s by our house. They didn’t have one in their store, but the Southlake store did. Ryan had them call to make sure, then put it on hold for us. Carried the banged up one back out to the car, drove to Southlake, and carried it back in. Exchanged it for a perfectly rectangle box that had never been opened. Perfect! As soon as we got home, I got to work putting it together. It has some really cool attachments! Then I started to vacuum. One of the worst comments about it that it was loud and heavy. I don’t think whoever wrote that has ever used a vacuum because it was lighter and quieter than our old one…and even kinda propelled itself across the floor. When I was done, I even went over our couches, under the cushions, etc. Then I went and got Ryan out of the computer room. As he walked around, he turned and looked at me, and was like Dayna, the carpet even feels different…fluffier! Anywho, after it’s first use, we are big fans of the Eureka Boss vacuum cleaner. I’ll keep you posted as we use it more.

Music

Ryan and I have become quite the Texas music fans. Which is one of the reasons we tend to frequent Fredericksburg and/or Austin. On the 21st we went to Poor David’s Pub and heard our friend Bobby Duncan and another friend Autumn Boudakais play. Only about twenty five people in the room, and it was wonderful. We bought both of their new cds and are anxious to see them again. In fact, Bobby is headlining at Billy Bob’s on Friday, June 5th. We are getting a group of folks together to go out and dance and hear him play. Call me if you are interested in coming along!

Golfer Dayna

So the other day I was lucky enough to get to participate in a golf clinic. Putting lesson, then chipping lesson, break, then driving lesson. GOLF IS SO MUCH HARDER THAN IT LOOKS! Geez! The girls I was in the class with called me slugger…I guess I’ve just played too much softball in my lifetime to be able to smoothly and gently hit a ball. My best activity was chipping…now that was fun. It was funny. Each of us in the class tended to be good at one thing, so I think if we had a team of four and were playing best ball, we could probably do decent! That night when I showered, I noticed something on my calves was stinging! It was a sunburn from where my Capri pants cut off. Great…that’s going to look real smooth in Hawaii.

Meetings

My meetings have started to pick up again. SAFY is back into final prep stages for our golf tournament and we are looking for sponsors, about to start sending out emails, mailing brochures and such. If you are interested in playing…please let me know! Or donating for that matter…sponsorships start at $100. Last year Ryan and I bought a hole and put “In memory of Ruth Worlow” on it. I took several pictures of it on tournament day. Anywho, Komen Race for the Cure is up and running as well. I’m volunteer co-chair again and have recruited Rosalyn to be on the committee too :o) We found out at our meeting that the race is on the same day as the Texas/OU game this year…great…traffic I am sure will be a nightmare…lucky for me, I’ll be out there at 3 in the morning and will miss most of that.

Baseball

As most of you know, Ryan and I have become quite the Rangers fans. We have bought a mini plan the past three seasons and thoroughly enjoy going to the games. In the past couple of weeks we have been lucky enough to go to two that have had pre game or post game concerts. The first was the Robert Earl Keen concert and the second was a Brandon Rhyder concert. Once again, whoever came up with that idea is brilliant. All these people in one place, ready to listen, and in May, the weather is perfect for it. We are going again this Sunday and excited. We aren’t sitting in our normal seats. These are on the second level in the outfield…full on sun…high is supposed to be 90 on Sunday…I think that really means it’s going to get up to 97. Guess we’ll see. I plan on wearing a tank top and shorts in hopes of getting a base tan before we head off to Hawaii!
